LOW-E Glass

Low-e glass is produced with the same technologies as reflective glass (both with the pyrolytic and magnetron methods) but they are designed to mainly reflect infrared thermal radiation, being generally quite transparent to the rest of the solar spectrum.

It reduces heat gain or loss by reflecting longwave infrared energy (heat) and thus lowers the U-value and solar heat gain, and in doing so improves the energy efficiency of the glazing. Due to its relative neutrality in appearance and energy efficiency, LOW-E glass is widely used in residential and commercial buildings, and its use is expected to continue to increase in the coming years.
